Her Duh

Performance

Concept:

Execute a group reading of John Cage's "Lecture on Nothing" remotely digitally controlled.

Execution:

Fifteen students gather in the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art's Eileen Neff exhibition space with headphones hooked up to an audio stream playing Frances Marie-Uitti's recording of "Lecture on Nothing" and a copy of the lecture. Readers begin and individual streams are cut off by the host one at a time. Readers are then forced to follow along with their neighbor. Christian Marclay's "Ensemble" exhibit can be heard in the background of the recording.
