Concept:

Inspired by documentary slave photographs from the 19th century. I took the power dynamic of the white male photographer and the black slave subject, and switched it to a power dynamic between a white female photographer and white male subjects.

 

Execution:

Photographed subjects' head/torso, full frontal, and full side views against a black backdrop with a Hasselblad medium format camera and black & white film.
